How to Use NOWONDER™ Nasal Spray: Step-by-Step

NOWONDER™ nasal spray (also known as Enovid) is a daily nasal cleanser. Its two-chamber bottle works a little differently from a standard mist spray, so it is worth a minute to get the technique right. Here is the routine from first opening to daily use.

1. Opening a new bottle

1. Align the marks on the bottle and the transparent cap, then remove the cap and the safety clip.
2. Prime the spray by pumping into the air until a consistent spray appears — usually several presses. This mixes the two chambers; it is not a sign the bottle is faulty. Full detail in Do I need to prime a new bottle?

2. Applying it

1. Blow your nose gently and wash your hands.
2. Sit or stand and tilt your head slightly forward. Hold the bottle vertically.
3. Place the nozzle just inside one nostril, close the other nostril with a finger, aim slightly outward toward the side of the nose, and press once.
4. Repeat in the other nostril, then repeat again in each — two sprays per nostril, four in total.

6. Wipe the nozzle with a clean tissue and replace the cap.

3. When and how often

• Use 2 sprays in each nostril before or after visiting crowded places. If you remain in a crowded place for several hours, you may spray again.
• When flying, many people use it before, during (on long flights) and after the journey.
• Per the label, NOWONDER™ may be applied 3 to 4 times daily, or up to 6 times daily as needed. Fewer uses on a quiet day is normal.

4. Storage
