Do I Need to Prime a New Enovid (NOWONDER™) Bottle Before First Use?

Yes. With the bottle held upright, prime the pump up to 10–12 times before first use, until a steady stream of liquid appears. This clears air from the system and activates the dual-chamber mechanism that mixes the ingredients. Often fewer presses are enough. Once primed, each press delivers a consistent flow.

Why it takes so many presses

A new sprayer arrives with air in the pump system, and the two chambers have not yet been brought together. The early presses do that work — clearing the air and getting the mechanism running. Until it is done, a press may give you nothing or an uneven dribble.

That is the mechanism filling, not product being wasted. The priming presses are already factored into the total number of uses the bottle is rated for.

How to do it

Before the first use, align the triangles on the cap and bottle, pull the cap up, and remove the safety clip.

Then prime with the bottle upright, into the air, so you can watch what is happening. You are waiting for the output to change character — from nothing or a spatter to a steady stream. Up to 10–12 presses is the outer figure; in most cases a few is enough. Watch the output rather than counting.

If nothing appears by 12, a few more presses is the right response, not a conclusion that the bottle is faulty.

Every bottle gets primed separately

If you have bought a multi-pack, each sprayer is primed when you open it. Priming one does nothing for the others, so open them one at a time as you need them rather than priming the whole pack at once.

Priming is a one-time step per bottle

Once a sprayer is primed it stays primed for normal day-to-day use. You do not repeat the routine before every application — uncap, use, then wipe the sprayer with a clean tissue afterwards to maintain hygiene.

Why this bottle needs it and others do not

It is a direct consequence of the two-chamber design. A conventional spray holds one pre-mixed solution, so there is less to establish before the first dose. This one keeps two components apart on purpose and brings them together as you press — and that system has to be brought up to working condition once, at the start of the bottle's life.
