What Happens If Enovid (NOWONDER™) Freezes or Is Left in a Hot Car?

By Udi Damari on Aug 13, 2026 0 Comment

Short temperature excursions are expected and tolerated. Enovid (NOWONDER™) remains stable and safe to use after exposure as low as 10°F (−12°C) for up to 36 hours, and as high as 140°F (60°C) for up to 72 hours. Day-to-day storage is different — keep it between 5°C and 40°C.

Why there are two different sets of numbers

This distinction resolves most of the worry.

Storage is where the sprayer lives day to day: 5°C to 40°C (41°F to 104°F), not frozen, not refrigerated. That is the condition to aim for.

Excursion tolerance is what it survives briefly without being compromised: down to 10°F (−12°C) for up to 36 hours, up to 140°F (60°C) for up to 72 hours. That is a wide margin, and deliberately so, because products get shipped and left in cars and that is simply reality.

So “do not freeze it” is a storage instruction, not a warning that a cold night in transit ruins it. A parcel that sat out overnight in winter is well inside the tolerance.

What this means for your delivery

Most delivery scenarios fall comfortably within those windows. A parcel left on a doorstep through a cold night, or in a warm van for a day, is within what the product is rated to handle.

We also ship in Cool Shield thermal bubble mailers, which are insulated specifically to buffer temperature swings in transit. The parcel is not experiencing the outside air directly.

What this means for a car

A car is the more demanding case, because it goes further than people expect in both directions. A closed car in summer sun can pass 60°C inside, and the tolerance at that temperature is 72 hours — not indefinitely.

For a bottle you carry occasionally, that is rarely an issue. For one living in a glovebox or door pocket across a whole season, it is outside what the tolerance describes. A bag that comes with you beats a car that does not.

If you think a bottle went beyond the tolerances

Talk to us before deciding anything. In most cases a couple of questions — how cold, how long, how it was packed — settle it quickly, and the answer is usually that the bottle is fine. That is a much better outcome than either using a bottle you do not trust or throwing away one that was never a problem.

Two things worth knowing while you get in touch. If the sprayer is visibly damaged or leaking, that is decisive on its own — freezing expands liquid, and a cracked bottle is finished regardless of what is inside it. And after extreme cold, we would suggest simply letting it come back to room temperature on its own rather than warming it actively.
