Airplane Cabin Air and Your Nose: Why Flights Dry You Out, and What Helps

Cabin air is desert-dry

Aircraft cabins typically run at 10–20% relative humidity — drier than most deserts, and far below the 40–60% your nose is used to at home. Hours of that dries the nasal lining, which is why the tight, scratchy feeling arrives before landing. The nose also filters a lot of other people's dust in a sealed space, so it has more to clear than usual.

An in-flight nasal care routine
